- Get Outdoors
Getting outside and enjoying nature is a great and healthy way to spend time with friends. There is so much to do! Get together for a hike, cool off on the water in a kayak or stand-up paddle board (SUP), or go for a nice group bike ride. Outdoor activities are a great way to stay active and have fun as a group without the temptation of alcohol present.
- Enjoy Your Local Attractions
Looking for something fun to do nearby? Try visiting some local spots and attractions such as farmer’s markets, museums, shopping centers, and theme parks. Embrace your inner tourists in your hometown. You and your friends will enjoy exploring and making memories around your own city, and you may even find some new favorite hangout spots without needing to venture back to the bars.
- Join a Sports League Together
Getting some friends together to join an adult rec league can be extremely rewarding! Playing together as a team could help to create even stronger bonds, plus the exercise will leave you feeling great and refreshed.
- Attend Live Entertainment Such as Music & Shows
Whether you’re planning a date night or social event with friends, it’s hard to go wrong with a concert or live show (comedy, plays, etc.). If you’re in your early stages of sobriety and uncomfortable around certain settings where alcohol is more present, you may want to begin by avoiding venues such as bars. If there are no shows in town at the time, head to the movie theater for a quick flick and some popcorn.
- Discover a New Hobby
As you continue to find new ways to enjoy your sober lifestyle, you’ll likely begin to discover new interests and hobbies. Some of our favorites include photography, cooking, or learning a new instrument.
